What happened to PB & J?

The Washington Post Food section has an interesting take on what to pack in your kid’s lunchbox. As I read it, the only thing I could hear in my head was “REALLY?!?!” by Seth and Amy. Here are some of their suggestions:

Main course: Plantain wrap with tangy black bean spread, Onigiri (shape cooked sticky rice into balls or triangles), Vegan Pad Thai, Sunny Tofu Salad, Turkey roll-ups with lavash bread, Neufchatel Cheese and thinly sliced organic turkey, Sliced organic flank steak salad, Nitrite- and hormone-free bologna on artisanal white bread, a salad with pear slices, blue cheese and walnuts.

Sides: Green salad with jicama matchsticks and creamy cumin-lime dressing, thai cucumber salad, curried chickpeas, fresh pineapple with grated lime zest, cherry lime rickey, crudites, carrot and daikon salad, organic celery with soy nut butter.

What kids eat this stuff? What moms or dads would make this stuff for a lunchbox? Who is the Post writing this crap for??

I think the staff at the Post are taking bets on how many kids will get beat up for bringing those lunches to school.

You gotta give these parents credit for trying to turn their kids onto healthy, vegetarian meals at a young age. i just hope these aren’t the same parents who make sure their kid has the latest Video game system, tv/computer in their bedroom, smart phone and music player.
